The Analytical 360 Cannabis Analysis Laboratory focuses on safety-certifying botanical and edible products for the medical and recreational cannabis communities.  Our scientists are committed to the detection and elimination of unsafe compounds sometimes found in certain preparations of medical cannabis.

We have the latest microscopic and microbiological tools designed to determine the levels of harmful molds, fungi, insects, foreign matter and other hazardous contaminants.

Yeast, mold and insects can cause various degrees of deterioration and decomposition of cannabis both before harvest and during storage, resulting in substantial losses to both producer and consumer.  Certain molds may even produce mycotoxins which can elicit allergic reactions and may even cause infections in immunocompromised individuals.

 

The following are possible microorganisms that may be detected through testing:
 

  • Alternaria - A plant pathogen and allergen to humans. Exposure can cause hay fever and may evolve into asthma. Exposure can also cause infections in patients with immune system deficiencies.
  • Aspergillus - One of the most deadly molds to humans. Some species have been known to produce large amounts of aflatoxin, a toxin & a carcinogen. Exposure can cause allergic reactions and/or infections in patients with immune system deficiencies.
  • Botrytis – A necrotrophic fungus that affects many plant species. It is also known as Grey Mold and Bud Rot.
  • Cladosporium – A plant pathogen which can cause cannabis to reduce the size of the yield & quality. This is the group that contains the most common molds & generates no mycotoxins. Over exposure can cause asthma attacks and/or pneumonia in some patients.
  • Escherichia Coli - A gram-negative bacteria that lives in the mammalian gastrointestinal tract. Most strains of E. Coli are harmless , however several can cause food poisoning in humans.
  • Penicillium - Exposure can cause severe allergic reactions in patients who are sensitive to the antibiotic Penicillin.
  • Yeast - A group of microorganisms that are often found in cannabis. Some are pathogenic and/or allergenic & should be avoided by patients with immune system deficiencies .
